New Flava In Your Ear - New Music and Videos to Check Out!
New Flava in Your Ear is an ode to hip hop legend Craig Mack’s break out hit. “New Flava” means the song is hot (to simply put it). Check out the list below of newly released songs, music videos, or albums that you should know about or you’ll be missing out:
“Big Bank”- YG ft. Big Sean, 2 Chainz, and Nicki Minaj
West coast rapper YG releases his third single from his upcoming album Stay Dangerous. The song is an “in your face” anthem flaunting all the money he has hence the chorus “Big Bank take lil bank.” He enlists the help of *screams* 2 Chainz, Big Sean, and Nicki Minaj to add their special touches. In Nicki’s verse she calls herself the queen (the title of her upcoming album) and she’s back to takeover. Nicki has us covered with her one liners that will perfectly fit as captions for our Instagram post. Thanks Nicki!
Standout Lyrics: “Uh oh back to them, I lead the pack so my back’s to them. Yep the queen’s back what’s happening, re-run, bout to make these b***** rap again.”
“Shoe Game”-Lil Mama
Lil Mama is back and all grown up. After a 10 year hiatus, she returns with her single “Shoe Game”, an upbeat, dance track, carrying the same flavor and energy of her hit “Lip Gloss.” During Lil Mama’s break from music, she was making a name for herself as an actress. In 2013, she starred as Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in the VH1 biopic CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story. Last year, she played the lead role in When Love Kills: The Falicia Blakely Story based on a true story. In the music video for “Shoe Game,” Lil Mama struts in her heels while wearing a silk, baby pink robe and changes to a red leather trench in a snap. Lil Mama is serving us grown woman vibes and all left to say is welcome back girl!
Standout lyrics- “Call me Big M, cause I’m a Big Mac. If shorty tell me shake somethin, it’s a shake shack. If Imma shake that, then where the cake at, cuz if it’s money on the line, Imma take that.”
Saweetie (pronounced Sah-wee-tee) is an on-the- rise west coast rapper who gained the attention of the masses with her freestyle to Khia’s “My Neck.” Saweetie is the self proclaimed “Icy Girl” because she raps about enjoying the finer things in life and staying fly. In “Good Good”, she’s telling her boo thang to admit that he’s feeling her already and stop wasting time.
Standout lyrics-“You been playing for too long, too long. Boy I’m tryna see you soon. You be actin’ like you ain’t sprung, ain’t sprung. Imma give you what you want.
“Everybody Mad” (unofficial remix ft. Beyoncé)
Queen B gave us our whole life and then some at Cochella a few weeks back and we haven’t been the same since. After performing her 2008 hit “Diva,” she switched things up and performed choreography to “Everybody Mad” by O. T. Genesis. He’s known for his tracks “Coco” and “Push It.” The remix done by Beyoncé picked the original up a notch (ok, two notches). The added horn section and ad libs of “Yerrr” makes you want to bust out the choreography on the spot. If Beyoncé were to release an official remix, we wouldn’t be mad right?
Standout Lyrics: “I be getting to the money, everybody mad. I think I’m getting too much money, everybody mad// “Everybody hated on him, then he bounced right back.”
“I Like It”- Cardi B ft. Bad Bunny & J. Balvin
Get ready y’all because it’s time to dance with this one. A sample from Pete Rodriguez’s 1967 hit “I Like It Like That”, Cardi B shows love (as she always does) to her Latin roots. The music video starts with Cardi in a flowy yellow skirt and bedazzled top walking down the street. She meets up with rappers Bad Bunny and J. Balvin to dance and have fun at the nightclub. The video perfectly matches the vibe of the song and it’s another win for Cardi.
Stand out Lyrics- “I like those Balenciagas, the one that look like socks. I like going to the jeweler, putting rocks all in my watch”// “They call me Cardi Bardi, banging body, spicy mami, hot tamale.”
“Girls Like You”-Maroon 5 ft. Cardi B
Can I hear a “REEEEMMMMIXXXX.” The pop and hip-hop worlds collaborated when Maroon 5 teamed up with Cardi B for their single “Girls Like You.” It’s a guitar driven song about a man expressing his love and appreciation for his lady (Awww). The music video takes girl power to the next level by featuring female athletes, actresses, singers, and activists. In the video, lead singer Adam Levine stands in front of microphone and turns in a circle, revealing a new woman standing behind him. Some of the powerful women include actress Tiffany Haddish, Jennifer Lopez, and Cardi B. Once Cardi is revealed in her lovely mustard ensemble, she delivers her lyrics with spunk as only she can.
Standout Lyrics: “Not too long ago, I was dancing for dollars. Know it’s really real if I let you meet my mama.”
